Support Our Seniors: Help Upgrade the NPSHS Kitchen This June
They’ve shared warm meals, kind smiles, and a lifetime of stories — now it’s our turn to give back.
The North Peace Seniors Housing Society (NPSHS) needs your help. This local non-profit has been a cornerstone of senior living in Fort St. John and the surrounding area since 1966, and today, their kitchen — which helps feed dozens of seniors every day — is in urgent need of upgrades.
To raise the $90,000 needed, we’re inviting the entire community to step up and support the North Peace Seniors Housing Society Kitchen for Care Radio-thon, presented by Remax, happening Friday, June 20th, outside Safeway from 6 am to 6 pm.
Can’t make it on the 20th? You can donate all month long by calling 250-785-8983 or visiting npshs.ca. Every contribution helps provide nutritious meals and continued care for our community’s seniors.
About the North Peace Seniors Housing Society
The NPSHS is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to offering affordable housing and meaningful community connections to seniors in our region. They currently manage four buildings with 144 self-contained units — 100 are fully independent apartments, and 44 offer added meal support with two daily meals included.
Their mission goes far beyond housing. Through programs like Better at Home, supported by United Way BC and local donors, they help seniors maintain their independence with services like light housekeeping, laundry, and Meals at Home.
NPSHS is not government-operated or subsidized, which makes community support absolutely vital. Eligible residents can apply for the SAFER (Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters) subsidy, but day-to-day operations, meal programs, and building improvements rely on donations and partnerships.
Let’s Keep the Care Coming
This June, be part of something special. Whether you donate during the radiothon or give anytime throughout the month, your support goes directly toward ensuring seniors in our community continue to receive the meals — and the dignity — they deserve.
Visit npshs.ca or call 250-785-8983 to donate today.
Because caring for our seniors is a job for all of us.
