The Chances Casino 20th Annual Light a Moose is this year from November 15th – 17th.
Every year, the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation teams up with Moose FM for our annual Light a Moose Radiothon. This year’s Chances Casino Light a Moose is scheduled for November 15-17, 2023. The event will be broadcast live on location from 5:30am to 6pm in the Chances parking lot.
The 20th Annual Chances Casino Light a Moose goal will be $175,000 to purchase a Phillips Epiq Elite Ultrasound Machine for the Medical Imaging Department at the FSJ Hospital. This department is currently facing a pressing need for an additional machine to meet the growing demands of their patient population. Presently, there is a significant backlog of ultrasound exams, particularly those categorized as least urgent, which should ideally be completed within 60 days. Unfortunately, a staggering 90% of these exams are taking approximately 9 months to be fulfilled, with some patients waiting as long as 14 months. To put things into perspective, as of August 2022, there are 2,748 patients awaiting their scans, whereas in 2020, the figure stood at 1,616 patients. The introduction of a new ultrasound machine would alleviate this burden and enable the department to accommodate an additional 1,820 to 2,600 patients annually.
The FSJ Hospital Foundation believes that the acquisition of the Phillips Epiq Elite Ultrasound Machine will significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Medical Imaging Department at FSJ Hospital.
